The
South West region of London is a vibrant and architecturally rich part
of the city with
attractions to suit all tastes. Wimbledon and Raynes Park
are established and highly
renown parts of London with all the energy of a thriving town
and the prestige of a London suburb.
The area
offers vast opportunities for employment with many UK head offices based
here
as well as a vast array of stores, restaurants, leisure centres
and theatres.
The area offers
a selection of quality, sought after schools for juniors and seniors alike
either state-run
or accredited independent institutions offering high standards in education.
There are many local and well attended places of worship in the
community with a
strong and positive inter-faith agenda.
Great public transportation links to the City and West End,
(South West trains,
Tramlink and District Lines) easy access to key roads like
the A3 and A219 and
adequate, dedicated parking facilities allow many choices for your
journey.
Wimbledon boasts one of the most popular and successful multiplex cinemas
in the
UK. The Wimbledon Theatre brings live West End productions to it's
stage.
The Broadway is also home for "UK's only children's theatre".
As you would expect restaurants of all categories abound from
big name fast food and coffee venues to a
mix of culturally diverse dining establishments with indoor or
sidewalk choices.
Wimbledon Village, home to many excellent social spots is up-market,
fashionable
and full of "village" character. The pubs are numerous with
a variety of atmospheres
or there are wine bars according to personal preferences.
Wimbledon is the home of British tennis and has many facilities
to learn the game,
train or simply enjoy the sport. Many of the parks have outdoor
public courts. A local
and popular
sports and leisure facility in town has impressive indoor and outdoor
courts
for the enthusiast. On the subject of sports facilities there are
many gym and leisure
centres offering indoor swimming, tennis, racquetball, basketball,
judo, pilates, yoga
and many more activities for children and adults. At this point
we cannot forget the
large YMCA with a full schedule of classes. Horse-riding in
Wimbledon is and has
always been very popular for all ages.
A recent bonus for Wimbledon, the Merton Leisure Department was
awarded money
to boost watersport facilities in the area (Wimbledon Park Watersports
Centre) -
canoes, jetties and new equipment!
The above covers
Wimbledon, Raynes Park, Cottenham Park, Crooked Billet,
& Copse Hill. Similar information will be produced for areas
where we are representing properties for those wishing to
